I am an ex-artilleryman who retired from the Army some years ago. Since that skill didn't translate well to civilian life, I pursued my interest in computers and got a BS in computer engineering from University of Alabama in Huntsville.

I enjoy writing code, but prefer to do it as a hobby rather than a paycheck. Currently I work as a design verification and test engineer at Adtran. I am constantly challenged to learn new things (Telecommunications will continue to evolve long after I am dead so there will always be something new and interesting to play with) and get to write code that makes my life easier (automation et al). Most of my experience in school was in C++ but I have fallen in love with Python since graduating and I don't see myself ever going back unless I have an excellent reason.

I don't consider myself an expert, but I do love to learn and implement best practices, so I try to surround myself with experts. That is why I am here.
