About

Simon Stroh has been a software engineer with a grip on the latest web development technologies for a few years. He started out as a web designer, which explains his attention to detail in the software components he develops. Using CSS programming to channel artistic expression, he has created website designs for an artist, a swimwear clothing line and a fashion brand. This was before he started learning to program. The design of interfaces was not enough, he felt, which sent him on a journey to learn to program. This desire led him to San Francisco, where he lived for three months and learned the flow and technologies used by tech companies in the Valley.

Since that time, he has thought about the potential of web technology. He created a few apps using JavaScript until again, he felt that was not enough. He prepared himself for a coding competition that he aspired to participate in using only Python, a language he had never used before, and gave himself only one day to learn the syntax of the new language. In that competition, he placed the seventeenth among hundreds of teams. Java would be the third language he learned when the classes he took at the College of IST at Penn State would teach him that.

Having begun with the development and designs of websites, he feels strongly connected to the programming language used on top of them, JavaScript. However, he is not limited to making just websites by the language. JavaScript has received so much community praise and development that it provides functions in many areas of technology. He can program a backend, which is where data exchange is made possible between an app and a server, he can also make native applications, which work on both iOS and Android. All of these things that are possible with JavaScript, he has done. But also, he has learned about new frameworks and libraries which help make even better applications, and it is his goal to bring together a suite of these tools that make him the ultimate software engineer.
