I'm an IT Pro, not a developer.
At work, I used to be known as 'Mr Batch File'. If something needed doing repeatedly, there was always a batch file for that! However, due to a slight change in job description, I am now finding myself becoming increasingly involved in the development of our products.
Having fairly recently been tasked with producing the installer for one of our applications, I have had to resurrect some of my previously forgotten basic coding skills in order to use Inno Setup (which is excellent, flexible and, in my mind, not that dissimilar to batch file syntax) to it's full potential.
After a sharp learning curve, I am now at a point where I understand the flexibility of Inno Setup and that it can do far more than just carry out installations. Consequently, this has led me to start converting all those archaic batch files to a more modern and friendly format with a proper Wizard style GUI.
I am currently enjoying learning more every day and I hope I'm sharing some of my own knowledge with the newly discovered community here on Stack Overflow!
