Richard graduated from the University of Oxford in Modern Languages (German & Spanish) before completing a PGCE at Birmingham University in 2002. He joined Linguascope that year to launch German and Spanish versions of the website for teachers, continuing to work in schools teaching languages, and leading on a broad variety of e-learning programmes.

With experience across a number of platforms and programming language, he is mostly kept busy by Swift (iOS), Kotlin (Android) and Haxe (OpenFL for web) projects in his professional life these days.

Richard is an avid polyglot who can't stop learning languages, blogging regularly about the topic at polyglossic.com. He currently occupies many of his spare hours with Icelandic, Norwegian and Polish. As an outspoken advocate of lifelong learning, in 2015 he completed a second degree in Social Sciences with the Open University. A keen pianist, he uses music to unwind after a hard day's learning.
