About

A computer should work for you, not the other way around.

Remember DOS back in the good old days? I was a kid back then, the commands looked so magical. You type something and the computer started doing stuff. I loved trying to understand the commands, but I didn't know English and I just learned to read. Finding the keys on the keyboard was a challenge in itself. But despite the extreme knowledge and skill gap, I loved it.

Since then I've been diving into computers, exploring every option in ms-word and countless other applications. Like it's an RPG with a possible treasure chest in each option menu.

When I was 13 or something, I was building cross browser websites. I know, what's special about that. Well, standards back then were Internet Explorer vs a standard. I didn't design the wonky red and green flashing button sites from back in the day, but really sophisticated buttons designed in an image editor. It was really like creating perfect spheres in minecraft.

Getting tired of the lack of browser standards, I decided to quit building websites. And having a new love: gaming. Grinding is however part of many games. And I didn't like to grind. Therefore I dived into making my own trainers and cheats. I know, cheating is wrong. But if I can beat 10 chimeras, I'm pretty confident I can beat a 1000. So why not save some time and that experience directly and move on with the story?

Why am I telling this? because the knowledge I gained from cheating still helps me out often enough. Because it's the exact mindset I have when I encounter a boring task at the job. If I have a repetitive task, I don't just execute it like a goblin. I take that task and make it a challenge. I don't care if I have to stay up all night to get it done. I just need to get it done my way. Because it's more fun than doing the task the default way.

Python is my newest lover. We're together since January 2020, and I've never loved a language this much before. StackOverflow is providing me with python puzzles. Where the problem is the image and Python code are the pieces. And I don't have to wait until a next problem arises that needs to be fixed with code.

The best way to learn is to teach, so solving random peoples problems is a real win-win for me. I don't like text book exercises, because those problems have already been solved.
