About

Software development was always a constant throughout both my personal life and career, be it in terms of creating new software, contributing to open-source projects, or developing tools to aid in automation or enabling less technical people to perform tasks they otherwise wouldn't have been able to complete. While the language of choice usually is determined by preexisting factors, I enjoy trying new languages and frameworks whenever the opportunity arises. This has allowed me to develop in many different languages over the years, amongst others: Rust, Python, Java, JavaScript, PHP, ...

Besides my deep interest in software development, I thoroughly enjoy the infrastructure side of things just as much. I have infrastructure experience not only in terms of hardware (servers, networking) and their configuration, but also with the virtual side of things, having used and administered VMware vSphere for virtualization and Linux containers, specifically using Docker and Kubernetes.

Staying with virtualization, I have had the chance to architect, create, implement and administer an Amazon Web Services based cloud-environment for a big e-commerce platform. In addition to managing the environment using infrastructure-as-code (AWS CloudFormation), it is of most importance for every component to be highly available and fault resilient, which is achieved by using AWS best practices.

Finally I have a special interest in IT security. I always try to hold myself to a standard that would be accepted by peers, and fulfills any guidelines or obligations in the context of what it is that I am doing. Security should never be an afterthought.
