I was a systems engineer that I spent most of my time longing to code. I constantly was coding any way I could in the scope of my job (DXL scripts, Excel VBA, Autohotkey). Finally, I took the plunge and applied to a software development position at the same company. After 2 years, I left the company for a fresh start in pure software development and haven't looked back.

I also dabble in music and radio controlled aircraft.
