I began my adventure into programming in my second year of Junior High through the site Neopets, I had found out that you could use CSS to customize a 'profile page' for your digital pets and was instantly hooked, from there I became more and more invested in web development by learning to code basic html and css. After a time I had lost interest in that site and had moved to Gaia Online, An anime focused online community with a lot of similar features to Neopets but with it's own flair, there too you could use CSS to customize your profile page and I began to focus heavily on that aspect of their sites, even offering my help in designing and coding the CSS for many users pages.
My second year of highschool I was enrolled in a class that taught the basics of HTML and CSS and thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. In my final year of highschool I chose to enroll in an off campus setting, all the while being part of my school, that focused on technology education. I took another class there that focused more on building and creating your own sites instead of working with just basic HTML and CSS, this class also included subjects such as SWFobject, Javascript and PHP. Admittedly by this time I had lost most of my interest in highschool and was not doing so well in classes.
After highschool I began working on my own projects more and more to further hone my skills in the field hoping that I could someday get a job working with these languages, and about three years later it happened. I was brought on as a paid intern to help with HTML and CSS coding for a local company focused on sports content, after about a year of being an intern they had decided to bring me on full time. Working there my responsibilities became more and more intense, though I liked the challenge, spreading out into working with Node.js and MongoDB though I never fully got the grasp of those technologies. I was also put in charge of maintaining and assigning the equipment used to stream live video back to the company's streaming site, one that they had set up and developed. At this point I was also tasked with learning various different things to help them out, and I became an all around worker for them. After about two years there I had an experience with the owner and my supervisor that clashed with my morals and I felt that I no longer could fit in resulting in me leaving the company.
Since then I have continued to enjoy web development and I feel that I am progressing, albeit slowly. My main interests have slightly shifted and has since shown itself in my projects. My most recent project is for Streamers and Content Creators, mainly those who focus on the Pokemon community.
To end this I'd like to leave you with a quote from my favorite book series The Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind
