I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. With spending time in the choir, on football and volleyball teams, and a great deal of time playing piano, I was instilled with a great amount of diversity. At the age of eighteen I enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley. There were many hours spent in labs and in front of computer screens. My career as a computer programmer was beginning with an engineering education. Eight years later I was working my third job in a year (outside my window was a young Google... I was in the wrong building!), and the end of my first career was near.
During my freshman year at Cal, I realized that the food was not going to be anywhere near what I had become accustomed to. Mammoth Lakes, CA is where I felt I could learn how to be a chef and start my second career. I was able to convince a French Chef to give me a chance after a month of pleading and beers. After only a year of his tutelage I moved to Petra's Bistro as a garde manger, then moved up through the ranks to become a sous chef for a couple years. In December of 2009, I became the executive chef of a wonderfully creative and thriving restaurant.
I got married to my beautiful wife and realized that I needed a more stable career where I could be with family during the holidays. Thank goodness I have the technical skills to fall back on. I re-entered the software world, starting with SQL Server DBA. On to C# and windows applications, then MVC, followed by Angular, Typescript, etc....
The rest is future history!
