"Don't do it!" They said. But I did. I dropped out of college to start a company. It lasted 5 years and didn't disrupt sliced bread, but it was the best education I could have gotten, by far.
Some things I learned: Android development before it was hot. Cybercafés were a bad investment in 2011. How to build prototypes overnight. To pick up whatever needs doing—product research, design, marketing, BD, sales... and, of course, engineering.
Of course I never stopped learning. Today I'm taking names over at Life360, helping build a digital haven for families. I learned to triple a company in size. I learned to ship code to millions of active users. I learned to lead and grow a cross-functional team.
