Data scientist in the digital health space. I've been in San Francisco since 2009. I use python, sql, git, and aws on a daily basis. My favorite editor is vim. For visualizations, I prefer bokeh, even though I'm better with matplotlib. I'm also a US Army Infantry Veteran (2004-2009).
My first programming language was matlab. As an undergrad, I used it to classify behavioral patterns in mice. In grad school, I switched to python to study behavioral and biomedical signals in humans.
After earning my masters in neuroscience, I decided to try my hand at data science for a digital health startup. Now I can predict your blood pressure by taking a video of your fingertip with an iphone camera.
In my spare time, I hang out with my wife, dog, and cat, play dungeons and dragons, and make gifs.
