Unlike most programmers who started coding while still in their diapers, I was a little late to the party. I was introduced to the vast world of tech when I got selected to follow a degree in Management and Information Technology at the University of Kelaniya. Here, my journey began. Since then, I have worked tirelessly to gain experience and up-skill myself. It's been a bit of a bumpy ride and I'm sure the road ahead has many more exciting challenges to offer! I can happily say that I am now living the dream. I discovered my passion for Data Engineering and haven't looked back since.
I am a proud Pythonista and I am also fluent in my SQL. I love using Cloud Services to develop my pipelines, especially Azure and AWS. My other weapons of choice include Airflow and of course, every Data Engineer's best friend, Spark. Oh, and Databricks! Their Lakehouse architecture is just revolutionary.
I've always liked the idea of building cloud agnostic data pipelines. This, combined with my interest in Software Engineering has lead me to dabble in Flask, Docker and Kubernetes.
I wear several badges of honor, including Microsoft Certified Azure Data Engineer Associate, Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate, AWS Solutions Architect Associate and Rookie Open Source Contributor. Now, don't go Googling that last one, I'm just delighted to have begun my open source journey.
My ultimate goal is to become a Solutions Architect in the near future. The geek in me wants nothing more than to put complete data solutions together, entirely from scratch.
