Emmanuele De Andreis (Manu) is the founder of Rainbow Portal, an open source project which allows users to create internet and intranet sites using a portal framework. The software is built on Microsoft ASP.NET Manu is a 10 year industry veteran with experience as a coder, programmer, and a Microsoft technology expert.
A Visionary, he is constantly looking for challenges to test his abilities in management. He has learned a lot from leading the Rainbow project. By managing a group of people who are working for free, he has learned to understand his peers from both a technical and a human perspective.
Professional Background Manu is currently involved an internet service company which he started with 3 other guys in Italy in 2000.
Over the years, Manu has leveraged his knowledge in computer training, graphics design for print and internet, and programming custom applications. He is a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) in Windows and Windows Networking. While working for his company, Manu developed many data driven sites using Microsoft technologies such as MS Access, SQL Server, and ASP. He started utilizing C# and ASP.NET when it was first released.
After a year of learning and customizing the IBuySpy Portal (a reference appication by Microsoft), Manu released his work to the world as the open source "Rainbow Portal" project. Since it's release, the Rainbow project has attracted developers from around the world and has seen numerous end-user downloads.
Emmanuele got his BA in Ingegneria Informatica (Bachelor of Arts in Information Engineering) at Politecnico di Milano (Milan Politechnic, Italy) in 2010.
When he is not coaching open source projects or involved in his business he enjoys watching films, biking, hiking, and spending time with his friends and family.
