At my current position I've been increasingly picking up security tasks as we've been more strictly enforcing audit recommendations. It's been a bit of a challenge, given the typical dilemma of a development team: maintaining the existing architecture while preparing for the future with new technology. The biggest benefit for me in getting up to speed on our security needs is having a say at ground level when we're writing new software to implement at least the same level of security we have on our existing products.
