I'm just here for the money and prestige. I'm really a hard science person (AS molecular bio) who didn't want to spend 8 years getting a PhD, so I opted to get my BS in software engineering instead. Like a lot of scientists, I'm just good at research and observation. I envy real programmers who can code a video game in assembly while watching TV.
I settled on Java in college. Something about OO and strong typing appeals to me. I like my hand to be held by the compiler. I like to be told, "Hey this won't work when you try to run it," before I do, as opposed to, "ERROR var not found," after. Most of my experience is in Middleware and Middleware performance.
