I am an Architecture historian and an archivist, which are not usually considered coding-related people... well unless you graduate with a digital inventory and you need to format it in your thesis. Moving from WordBasic and dos databases into everything I need for achieving the desired result and years of problem solving at work fine tuned my non-professional coding skills.
I may not be able to know all the syntax for a given language, but I can fix and adapt existing code well enough, especially thanks to the wonderful answers I have been digging in stockoverflow in the past years. I finally decided it was time to move out of leeching and do some active interaction with this site, hopefully helping around a bit more here. My strongest code skills are in php+mySQL and css due to years of experience as a university journal webmistress (no, the CMS is not a wordpress/joomla edition). I also work a lot with regular expressions to improve my editing and formatting in libreOffice and inDesign.
I usually work with windows, and *nix terminals in webservers. I have a soft spot for the command line, and after years stuck with BATCH I am finally moving into Powershell.
