In 2015 I moved back to Wisconsin to work for the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies which is part of the Space Science and Engineering Center, a building that also houses the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at the University of Wisconsin (my alma mater). Prior to that I was faculty at Central Michigan University and the University of North Carolina in Asheville. Following a breakthrough in my research I sought a position where I could dedicate all my time to research and to expand my research interests into other areas.
I am a long time Linux enthusiast going back to the 0.99 kernel days. I am first and foremost a meteorologist but really enjoy modeling, programming, and data visualization and continue to look for novel ways to tease out the secrets of thunderstorms and tornadoes by throwing as much computational infrastructure at them as is available.
