About

Four years ago an opportunity arose for me to do a PhD so I jumped at it and haven't looked back. I've loved being at the cutting edge of research and trying to develop new approaches or combining methods from different fields to solve problems. Now, with the finish line clearly in sight, I'm looking for my next big project or opportunity.

As part of my PhD, I have been developing methods to accurately map out the signal quality of WiFi and other wireless communications technologies. I've developed algorithms and used techniques for compressing sound files to speed up the solution of these models. I implement these algorithms in MATLAB and C/C++ and parallelise them using OpenMP, MPI and CUDA technologies to enable them to run on a supercomputer or a GPU.

I love travelling as part of my PhD and have been to some beautiful countries like Switzerland as well as winning awards in Spain, Ireland and England for papers I wrote. I am an Irish Research Council Scholar.

When I'm not working I can usually be found with my 7 year old puppy like Labrador, Toby. He runs and runs and runs and then wants you to play with him with a ball. At the weekends, I can usually be found at a GAA match, either refereeing it or as a spectator travelling around the country hail, rain or shine. I'm still a kid at heart and love to find time to play Pokemon or with my very big Lego collection. I, particularly, like spaceships from the Lego Star Wars collection.
