I am a Software Developer from Cleveland, Ohio.
We always had interesting new(er) tech around the house. When I was younger (pre-teen) I was interested in understanding computers only so that I could play games on them. I taught myself how to build computers, install operating systems and diagnose problems. Eventually this lead to my interest in Linux.
A friend of mine, in high school, helped me setup a headless Debian server. I used this server to learn, setup forums (PHPBB), write small PHP websites, etc.
During my senior year I started my career in tech on the help desk in a corporate environment. I had been out of the Windows world for quite some time. I switched my interests back to learning as much about the Microsoft products as possible.
Eventually, I was tasked with building a small reporting website in PHP. This was the start of my career as a software developer.
After 4.5 years in tech support, I then interned in a developer position where I taught myself C#, JavaScript, Ext JS, Sencha Touch, SQL, and more.
I now work for a large corporation and build software on the side under my LLC.
