I am a molecular biology PhD candidate at Mississippi State University. The only computer science courses I've taken are an Intro into Bioinformatics course and a Perl for biocomputing course. I've taught myself Perl, Javascript, and Python using online sources like StackOverflow and Codeacademy.

I see programming as a functional hobby. I like to code, but my work doesn't revolve around it. I hope to one day be proficient enough to work programming into my profession in more than a superficial way.
