In 2011, I came up with a concept for an app. Not knowing anything about development (only mucking around with Joomla - at the time) I was able to get a minor part of it working on a Joomla site I built. I soon came to realise that Security was a huge problem, and decided to stop using Joomla entirely and started to learn HTML part-time on my own.
Fast forward a few years and I discovered Lynda.com in 2015. At this time I was able to build proper HTML websites, but still had no knowledge of any backend languages. I was very ambitious and decided to learn Objective-C... Yeah, that was hectic insane and did not last... Fortunately enters Swift.
I managed to build a few simple apps, but still had no backend knowledge of any sort, therefore API's was not possible, and hence no real motivation to go on with Swift.
At the end of 2016, I had resigned from my job, and as 2017 began, I stayed at home for that year and started learning PHP. Early in 2018 I got my first client and built an accounting software system for their team of accountants to keep track of jobs and clients (Very much like Slack... If only I knew it existed :P
Later in 2018 I was approached by another company and started doing contract work for them. This went on for a good two years, but what had happened, was that I relied so much on the income coming from them, that I had neglected my own brand.
In February 2019 I went back to working on my own again, Then came Covid-19... Fortunately, I had enough work to pull me through. So much so, that in August 2019 I employed my first candidate. Now that the two o us are both getting along quite well with both Angular, Python, (still the older projects in PHP) we are getting to a point where we will start developing our own web/app-based services. It is after all why I learned to code!
