About

I started programming in 1965 using the IBM 7040, IBM 1130, IBM 1401, DSC Meta-4, GA-1830 and a Honeywell 200. After that I programmed on the Univac 1108. I wrote device drivers to support non-IBM peripherals for the IBM 1130. After about 40 years of "permanent" employment I began contracting for such companies as Micron (SSD's), Data Ram (RAID), DiscoverTec (Automobiles) and Cisco (Transceiver Library), Wasabi (contracted to Intel) ... all embedded systems. I specialized in communications when I wrote simulations of the IBM 2780, IBM 3780, Univac 1004, and a CDC terminal that I can't remember. At DNA Systems I wrote timesharing internals. At American Megatrends I wrote BIOS and managed a BIOS department. At Symbios (now LSI) I wrote Windows SCSI drivers. I'm retired now but still do some contracts and personal embedded systems projects. I may ask, what some younger engineers, think are silly questions but I be aware that I never had any classes ... in the 60's all that was available was Fortran II.
