A programmer. I like hacking in several languages (Racket, JavaScript, Python, Java, C) perhaps a little too much.
I did my undergrad at UC Berkeley, spent some time programming for The Arabidopsis Information Resource in Palo Alto, then did a PhD at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts. I've also been a guest at Brown University in Providence, RI and a postdoc at the University of Utah.
I used to be the main developer of a programming environment on the web: http://wescheme.org. I also developed a Racket->JavaScript compiler: http://hashcollision.org/whalesong.
These days, I'm working for a particular search company that likes very large numbers.
I enjoy playing Go (the game, not the programming language) and hiking in my spare time.
