Derek is the Senior Software Architect for Safety Net, Inc in Traverse City, MI. He started with Safety Net five years ago as a Network Engineer. However for the past few years he has been transitioning back to his passion, which is software development. During his time at Safety Net he has achieved certifications as a Network Engineer (MCSE), Database Administrator (MCDBA), and Application Developer (MCTS). This unique combination of skills help him have a complete understanding of all aspects building robust enterprise applications

Early on in his career Derek developed solutions for a local travel company on a LAMP platform. He has experience administering and managing Linux based server and developing solutions in PHP and Java. After working at Safety Net Derek started developing solutions using the Microsoft .NET Framework and has chosen that as his platform of choice.
