Some would say the details of my life are inconsequential. However, others feel that it is important to know where your employees and contractors come from. I had considered composing a limerick for this section, but seeing that my many talents do not include music or poetry, I decided against it. Instead I will regale you with a tale that could make you laugh, make you cry, or simply make you roll your eyes at silly jokes. Actually, I’ll try to keep it fairly brief, because as they say: "ain't nobody got time for that."
I began professional software development in 1995 as a dBase IV developer for a small shipping company in southern Ohio. This led to a six year career in Information Technology, in positions ranging from PC Technician, Network Administrator, Web Designer, Swiss Army Knife, Help Desk Support and the general "I don't care if you've never seen this before in your life, go fix it" technician. After a brief stint in the financial and construction industries, I returned to school to pursue a degree in Graphic Arts.
In 2005, I found a great position as a ColdFusion developer. This was my first professional exposure to server-side web development. Here, I was mentored by a skilled and amazingly patient supervisor who taught me many of the skills I still use today. The last eleven years have been the most rewarding of my professional life. Over the years, I have used almost twenty programming languages, and the ones I use today are some of my favorites.
I currently live in Southwest Florida with my beautiful wife, two fantastic children, one dog, and a couple of very playful guinea pigs. I enjoy football, baseball, golf, hiking, and drawing. My free time is spent drag racing, snipe hunting and wrestling alligators (no, not really but it sounds better than mowing the grass).
