My primary job is as lead stroke physician at St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
I have been writing software since around 1990; with my primary work being in data analysis areas. Most recently I have contributed to ResearchKit, Apple's Open Source health research framework. I've worked across a range of languages over time - from BASIC and ARM assembler, VBA, SQL, C, Objective C, Swift, and most recently R.
Alongside my clinical role I have a role as Director of Clinical Informatics with the Royal College of Physicians National Stroke Programme (www.strokeaudit.org) which is one of the UK's leading national audits supporting quality improvement in stroke care and undertaking large-scale stroke research using data from 98% of all strokes occurring in the UK since 2013.
