My working history is in machine tools. First mechanical design then controls. Worked in C++ on PC based systems. Interested in learning about micro controllers for some things I think would be useful if I could make them.
Currently taking a go at being self employed. The desire for health insurance may drive me back to a day job.
For my education I did a prolonged BS in Mechanical Engineering. Didn't have the money to go straight thru full time but I graduated with $2,500 in debt and a lot of hands on experience. On the job I got interested in controls for machine tools which lead to an even more prolonged (and disjointed) masters in computer science. Still trying to learn all I can.
Besides 'Geeking' as my wife calls it I like to get outside for various modes of human powered locomotion. IE walk, hike, bike, XC ski, snow show, paddle, row or whatever.
