For IntelliJ 2020 , right-click the build. gradle file and press the Import Gradle Project option.
Go to File > Settings (or hit Ctrl + Alt + s ), and navigate to Build, Execution, Deployment > Build Tools > Gradle. Select Automatically import this project on change to build script files and hit OK: JetBrains, who created IntelliJ IDEA, say that this setting can slow things down on large projects.
In the Settings/Preferences dialog ( Ctrl+Alt+S ), go to Build, Execution, Deployment | Gradle. On the Gradle settings page, in the Gradle Projects section, select a Gradle project you need. In the Build and run using list, select the appropriate option and click OK to save the changes.
Open IntelliJ IDEA and close any existing project. From the Welcome screen, click Import Project. The Select File or Directory to Import dialog opens.
Try by opening the gradle task view and then click the refresh button. For me it solved the problem.
I also had a similar problem,
Go to : View -> Tool Windows -> Gradle.
Then press in Refresh Icon
This fixed the issue "Please, re-import the Gradle project and try again." for me (IntelliJ Ultimate 17.3.3):
(1) Detached Gradle project:
(2) Closed the project and (3) re-opened it via File > Open recent. IntelliJ will promt to import the now unlinked Gradle project. (4) Imported it and selected "Use auto-import" in the dialog.
I had the same problem with my Intellij IDEA version 2016.2 (Mac)
The solution was: In Intellij, Click on "View" then "Tool Windows" then "Gradle" then click on
