I must be missing something. I am reading this article and it says that there is a plugin called "UML Support" which is enabled by default. I didn't have it, so I went to Preferences > Plugins and see no such plugin. Searching didn't show it as well.
This page which is a sub-page of the previous one says I should be able to press CMDShiftOptionU and a diagram will come up. That doesn't work, and I also don't see a Diagram > Show Diagram on any context menu for my files in the project.
How can I see UML Diagrams of my codebase? It looks like it should be straightforward but I don't see any of these in Intellij 14.1.4

IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate allows you to generate UML diagrams. You can use ⌥⇧⌘U (macOS) or Ctrl+Alt+Shift+U (Windows/Linux) to generate a UML diagram for your code which can help you and your team to read and understand the codebase.
In the Project tool window, right-click a package for which you want to create a diagram and select Diagrams | Show Diagram Ctrl+Alt+Shift+U ). In the list that opens, select Java Class Diagram. IntelliJ IDEA generates a UML diagram for classes and their dependencies.
Installing the PlantUML integration plugin for IntelliJ IDEAGo to Settings > Plugins > Marketplace and install the plugin PlantUML integration . Then go to Settings > Other Settings > PlantUML or search for PlantUML. Configure the path to the dot executable.
Open the class and click the mouse cursor over it. Then open the Tools →Sequence diagram, choose options, and… the magic is done. Sequence diagrams are an excellent tool for looking at the big picture of object interaction.
