are there known ways to tag work items in TFS 2010? What type of field do I need to add, where the user can select different tags for a work item from a list of recommended tags and type in new tags for that list?
To create a new tag, click the Add button and start typing to add a keyword. Any existing tags that have been added to other work items will begin to display in a dropdown box as you're typing. Figure 1 shows an example of a product backlog item that has been tagged with two tags: Dev and QA.
From the web portal, open a work item and add a tag. Choose Add tag and type your keyword. Or, select from the list of previously assigned tags.
When you connect to TFS, you can't change the work item type for an existing work item, but you can copy the work item and specify a new type. For instance, you can copy an existing product backlog item and change the type to bug, as shown in the following illustration.
From Visual Studio 2019 choose Tools>Options. In the Options dialog, enter work items in the search box.
There is no support for tags as you know and love it from other products like Stack Overflow. It is high on our wish list though ...
