If you're used Windows for the last decade, you're familiar with balloon notifications. They became a staple in the right-hand corner of your screen, just above the taskbar, letting you know when key events needed your attention in Windows.

Where is the system notification area?

The notification area is located at the right end of the taskbar. It contains icons you might find yourself selecting or pressing pretty often: battery, Wi-Fi, volume, Clock and Calendar, and action center. It provides status and notifications about things like incoming email, updates, and network connectivity.

What is notification area short answer?

The notification area is a portion of the taskbar that provides a temporary source for notifications and status. It can also be used to display icons for system and program features that have no presence on the desktop.

Over on the right side of the taskbar is the Notification area (also called the system tray or tray). Each icon in the Notification area represents a program or service that's running in the background.

Check here and here. In general Google rules if you know the right words (system tray is not called "tray" -- it's "system notification area")
