I tried sorting an array of size 100000000 in Swift
and Kotlin
and i can see a huge performance gap between them. For this number, Kotlin
is almost 18
times faster than Swift
(on my machine).
I recorded some results and i found that swift is faster when the size is around 10000 or less but once the number goes up, Swift
becomes significantly slow as compare to Kotlin
.

So, here you can see Swift
is becoming extremely slow when size increases although it is faster when the number is small.
Swift code runs much faster than Kotlin.
Enums in swift is considered more powerful than that of Kotlin. There is not a data class in Swift. Delegated Classes and properties are missing in Swift. Annotations are not allowed in Swift.
As with Android and iOS, people debate over Kotlin vs Swift to find out which one is better. Kotlin was developed in 2011 by the JetBrains team as an android mobile development language. Swift, on the other hand, was developed in 2014 by Apple. Both languages offer modern techniques and are easy to work around with.
Swift was developed by Apple and first appeared in 2014. Kotlin, on the other hand, was designed by the JetBrains team and saw its first glimpse in 2011. But it got its due only in 2017 when Google made it an official language for Android development.

build configuration for Swift
so i changed it to release
and with that it seems Swift
is faster for any number as shown in the below results,

results in release
build configuration when doing some kind of performance benchmark as shown above, the results vary significantly in debug and release configurations.
In debug and release configurations, compiler uses different optimization levels so it affects the performance. Some discussion on optimization levels can be found in this question
