Both of those sites suggest that Ctrl + Shift + Up/Down will add another cursor. But my Mac OS X seems to have some behavior already set to that. It zooms all of the windows out or in depending on whether I use up or down.
Does anyone know a) how to disable this OS X functionality? or b) how to change the key binding for this in Sublime's "Default (OSX).sublime-keymap -User" file?

CMD + OPTION + SHIFT + ⬇ / ⬆ works for me on Mac with version 1.15. 1. You can also use page up/down to go faster! I installed Smart Multi-cursor extension with some advanced features, with shortcut Cmd + Alt + (Up / Down) to create the multi-cursor.
Splitting the Selection into Lines Select a block of lines, and then split it into many selections, one per line, using: Windows/Linux: Ctrl+Shift+L. Mac: ⇧+⌘+L.
Ctrl + D in SublimeText is "Quick Add Next." This appears to be equivalent to Ctrl + B in Brackets, which is "Add next match to Selection" on the Find menu.
To select multiple regions using the keyboard, select a block of text, then press Ctrl+Shift+L to split it into one selection per line. When you're done with using multiple selections, just press Ctrl+K to trim all but the first.
I figured it out after reading this: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3331893?tstart=0
Basically, I just had to disable "Mission Control" and "Application Windows" in System Preferences >> Keyboard >> Shortcuts.
