I get the following message when trying to sign into skype after my Ubuntu machine hasn't been shut down properly and skype was running:
"We can't open Skype. You are already signed in on this computer. Please sign out and try again."
System files corruption is a common reason why Skype won’t open on Windows 10. Fortunately, there is a built-in tool named System File Checker (SFC)in Windows 10. It is used to scan for corrupted or missing system files on the computer and then repair them.
The most common cause is that your system does not meet the minimum requirements of the latest version of Skype. For more information, check the Skype system requirements.
For Mac, you should also make sure that your version of Skype is up to date by using Software Update and installing the latest version of QuickTime. Another common issue is with the default text-to-speech setting on Mac OS X. To change the default text-to-speech setting:
Solution 1: Rename Skype Folder in Safe Mode Solution 2: Run SFC Scan Solution 3: Reinstall Skype User Comments Skype is a telecommunications application that specializes in providing video chat, voice calls and instant messaging services. It is available on computers, tables, mobile devices, Xbox One console and smartwatches.
To fix the problem you will need to manually delete the lock files in your .Skype directory.
To do this, run these commands in terminal:
cd ~/.Skype find ./ -name "*.lock" | xargs rm find ./ -name "*.lck" | xargs rm
