Macbook pro 13" does not have a right control key. As a programmer I really need this key and it is not convenient to hit left control with keys that are also on the left side of the keyboard. Is there a way to globally change the right option key (which I don't need that much) to the ctrl key in mac?
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Keyboard , then click Keyboard. Click Modifier Keys. For each modifier whose default action you want to change, click the pop-up menu, then choose the action you want performed when you press the key, or choose No Action.
The Macintosh offers a key labeled Control (or, on laptops, “ctrl”), but it isn't the equivalent of the PC's Ctrl key. The Mac's Control key is primarily for helping you “right-click” things, as described earlier. Instead, the Macintosh equivalent of the Windows Ctrl key is the ⌘ key. It's right next to the space bar.
Connect the keyboard that you want to configure. Select the Start button, and then select Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center. From the displayed list of key names, select the key that you want to reassign. In the command list of the key that you want to reassign, select a command.
I finally found how to remap control keys and I'm including it here for future references: Double command is a software that does exactly the same thing (mapping only the right option key to control key). You can use it to change the control keys of your mac using this application.

If you just want to use it in the terminal as I did.
I recommend you to use iTerm2. It allows you to remap keys in the Keys
tab in the Preferences
pane (shown below):
