I'm converting an image from .png to .eps and it hugely increases the file size. Can anyone explain why this is, and how to prevent it increasing so much.
I'm using Unix convert: convert image.png image.eps
Thanks for any help
Working as the most powerful tool to edit and manage image files, Adobe Photoshop is always picked as the first choice to convert PNG to EPS. Open PNG in Photoshop. Go to File>Save As and choose Photoshop EPS as the output format.
A 4.25 X 6.25 photoshop EPS file in CMYK mode should be 16.2 megabytes. Anything over 400 DPI will be discarded. Please don't include more data than is necessary. Files less than 400 DPI or scaled up from a lower resolution may print with a lower image quality.
PNG files are for the screen, while EPS files are best on paper. Read on to learn a few ways to convert PNG to EPS! The portable network graphics format, or PNG, is a popular file format for storing 2D graphics data, most commonly used for images and logos.
Use level 3 postscript if you can. In general, level 3 will produce the smallest files. Level 2 provides the best compatibility, and works well with jpeg images. (see http://electron.mit.edu/~gsteele/pdf/)
