I have installed the Build 9926 of the windows 10 technical preview i.e The January Build, on Windows 7.
I am trying to use the voice assistance of cortana on my Virtuabox but am not able to do so. The microphone works perfectly fine on my host windows 7 machine
Any suggestions as to should i do so that my microphone works in virtualBox??
Open the settings for the VM, click the audio tab and uncheck the "Enable Audio Input" setting. Start the VM. Use some application inside the VM to record audio or just look at the microphones sound levels from the guest OS's audio input settings.
In this case you need to install the VirtualBox Extension Pack and possibly the Guest Additions (not sure about it). Then restart the VM and in the top menu Devices there should be a new submenu Webcams. Enable your webcam from there and it should become available in the VM.
To enable audio for a guest, select the Enable Audio check box. The following settings are available: Host Audio Driver: The audio driver that Oracle VM VirtualBox uses on the host. On a Linux host, depending on your host configuration, you can select between the OSS, ALSA, or the PulseAudio subsystem.
