I'have upgraded to MacOS High Sierra and now have a problem. When I press ' or " button quote underlines and I need to type it again or press "space" to remove underline and continue typing. Also, if I enter letters a,o,e,i after pressing ' - it changes quote to á,ó,é,í. This is not smart quotes and I can't find any settings to turn this off. Keyboard layout is set to USA international (PC). How can I return normal quotes input?
pressing it a second time results in two of the characters appearing on the screen. It is caused by having an international keyboard installed - where some keys can produce extra characters (depending on what you press next).
Go to Apple menu and open System Preferences. Choose “Keyboard” and select the “Text” tab. Pull down the submenus alongside “Double Quotes” and “Single Quotes” and select your preferred quote style for each. Exit System Preferences when finished.
Press-and-hold the ALT key and then type 0147 for the opening single quotation mark and ALT followed by 0148 for the closing single quotation mark.
Set it from English US International - PC to Englisch US.
