A lot of open source libraries that aid in Android application development have sprung up with time. IMO looking at source code of good projects helps learn the system better, faster and not to mention reduces development time. Is there a recommended list of such projects or if not, can we build such a list? I think it will really be useful to other developers.
Thanks.
Open source apps offer Android users excellent alternatives to their mainstream competitors. Notably, as their source code is accessible to anyone, savvy users can see exactly what's going on under the hood. And even though open source apps can track you, it is impossible to do this without the users' knowledge.
Android OS, VLC Media Player, and many other software projects are available in open source. There are also many Android libraries that are very-very useful and available as an open-source project.
The general rule is that either onDestroy() is called, or your process is terminated, or your code crashed.
Android is as much open-source software as it ever was. Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) member Torsten Grote claims that Google's "Android SDK [Software Development Kit] is now non-free software."On Twitter, Grote summed up his position as "#Android SDK is no longer #FreeSoftware.

I'd also recommend search public repos such as code.google.com, github, bitbucket for keyword android.
