As Augusto said, check your classpath for the duplicated spring-core jar of different versions.
If you are user Maven for example, it could easily happen. Some of your dependencies may require different Spring versions, so unless you align them in your <dependencyManagement> tag you'll end up having several copies of certain Spring libraries of different versions in your application's lib folder. The class loader will only load one copy of each duplicated class, not necessarily of the same version. Having <dependencyManagement> tag in your root POM for all libraries (including their dependencies) that are used in your project is a good practice.
