One of my Silverlight applications has some users to use it on Apple Macs. They complain that the mouse wheel and track-pad don't work.
From the research I've done, it seems that this isn't supported in browser-hosted applications on Macs.
Does Silverlight 5 add improved support? Is it on Microsoft's radar for a future version of Silverlight?
iPadOS doesn't support scrolling or other gestures with Apple Magic Mouse (1st generation) or Magic Trackpad (1st generation). To change how your Bluetooth trackpad works, go to Settings > General > Trackpad. On the screen that appears, you can adjust these settings:
The trackpad is compatible with both Windows 10 and Windows 7. It has a smooth glass surface and supports multitouch gestures. Plus, it comes with a USB-C cable. It even offers convenient hotkeys, including left, middle, and right mouse buttons, a one-touch mute button, and an enter button.
To see all of the trackpad gestures you can use with your Mac, or to turn off or customise gestures, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Trackpad. Use one or more fingers on the surface of your mouse to click, tap, slide or swipe items. For example, to move between pages of a document, swipe left or right with one finger.
You can zoom in on images just like you do on your smartphone by pinching outward, easily scroll with your fingers, or go back on webpages with a single tap. The trackpad feels fluid, and it helps prevent the wrist fatigue that you'd normally experience with a standard mouse.
While my initial thought was that it works in 4 and 5, I elected to test it again under the silverlight 5 beta.
Mousewheel scrolling does not seem to work for scrollviewers or similar. I can't test the trackpad, as I don't have a mac laptop.
In fact I noticed the exact same issue during a recent demo to some partners. Using the trackpad, they were unabled to perform deepzoom zooming.
I am however quite sure it worked before. Therefore, it looks like a Mac Os (or Safari) update broke this Feature. It's a good thing: Mouse wheel and trackpad support on MacOs are on Silverlight features list, MS will normally correct the issue, maybe for the next release (I suggest to cross our fingers)
