As I´m building a web app that includes a calendar as one of it´s features and that can be used all over the world, as a connivence to users I´d like them to easily include their local holidays. Ideally I´d like to just store their country and pull a list from an API.
Ideal would be a API that on request gives back the bank holidays for a given year and country.
What I´ve found so far:
e.g. en.german%[email protected] Seems nice, not always fully up to date and not sure if it´s ok to use that information.
Countries supported by google: Australian, Austrian, Brazilian, Cambodian, Canadian, China, Christian, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hong Kong (C), Hong Kong, Indian, Indonesian, Iranian, Irish, Islamic, Italian, Japanese, Jewish, Malaysian, Mexican, New Zealand, Norwegian, Philippines, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Singapore, South Africa, South Korean, Spain, Swedish, Taiwan, Thai, UK, US & Vietnamese Holidays

11 days is an average number of paid public holidays across 195 countries worldwide. Overall Australian workers do pretty well with 10 paid public holidays which brings Australia to the 9th place in the global ranking alongside with Morocco, Qatar and Vietnam.
Bank holidays are holidays when banks and many other businesses are closed for the day. Public Holidays are holidays which have been observed through custom and practice, such as Christmas Day.
Most of the UK has eight bank holidays per year: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, May Day, late May bank holiday, Summer Bank Holiday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Northern Ireland and Scotland have additional public holidays: Orangemen's Day, St Andrew's Day and St Patrick's Day.
As of June 2021, there are eleven annual federal holidays in the United States, and one additional quadrennial holiday (Inauguration Day).

WebCal.fi has about 30 countries' holidays and other stuff available in XML, JSON and a few other formats, more countries coming. Free or at least cheap.
