How to use aliases in Google Calendar?

I have a google account (say [email protected]) that is set up to send mail for many other accounts ([email protected], [email protected]...).

For at least one of those accounts ([email protected]) google will not let me set up a separate google account. It says there is an existing account and that it is disabled. Perhaps this is because it is already connected to a gmail account.

I want to create google calendar events as '[email protected]', that is to have '[email protected]' show up in the 'created by' field for an event instead of '[email protected]'.

This is important because, in creating events for work I do not want my personal email to show up. Is there a way to switch email accounts, hide or change the 'created by' field in Google Calendar? Any help or suggestions are very much appreciated.

Can I send a Google Calendar invite from an alias?

When creating a new event, there you should see a calendar icon. It should have a list of the "Shared Calendars". From here select the one you want the invite sent from and it will be sent on behalf of that alias account.

How does an alias work in Google?

With Google, you can add a suffix to the main part of your email address to essentially create an alias. The way this works is you add '+alias' to the main part of your email address. Any emails sent to this address will show up in your Inbox, but to the sender they are being sent to a different address.

How do I add an alias to Google?

To open the user settings page, click a user name. If you need help with finding the user in the list, go to Find a user account. Click Add Alternate Emails. Click Alternate email and enter a name for the alias (the part of the address before the @ sign) and, if needed, select a domain.

Does Gmail allow aliases?

Gmail also lets you create temporary aliases. This lets you receive emails from different sources and automatically filters them into separate folders.

As far as I know, it is not possible. Google are ignoring the hundreds of people having the same issues. We just cancelled our Google Apps for Business account solely because of this feature not being available.

We, just as every other business out there, do not want to use the personal [email protected] when sending a google calendar event to a customer, but instead from an alias like [email protected]

it is possible.

  1. set up a google account with your alternative email address and
  2. alter the calendar settings to share its calendar with your main google account
  3. choose that calendar when making new meetings from the drop down box.
