I specified one issue A as a subtask of issue B in JIRA. In reality it is not a subtask but a separate issue. How to remove issue A as a subtask of issue B leaving the issue A as a separate issue?

Sub-task unlinking can be obtained in JIRA in two ways: Convert the sub-task to another issue type. Move the issue from one parent to another.
Select gear icon > Screens. Select the screens you want to add the parent link to and click Update. Now you can see and edit the parent link field in your Jira Software tickets. From there, you can remove the child from the parent by navigating to the child issue and clearing out the parent link.
By default, all associated sub-tasks are deleted together when you click to delete the parent issue. Let us know if you have any other questions. :) Note that the general consensus among folks here on the forum is not to delete issues, as doing so can come back to bite you in many ways.
You can convert your sub-task to a stanard issue through convert to issue under the more dropdown menu.
