I saw that the website http://panopticlick.eff.org/ gather info about your browser, which makes you unique, even without cookies or IP tracking.
My question: How do you use javascript to see this info?
Cover Your Tracks analyzes how well your browser and add-ons protect you against online tracking techniques. A Cover Your Tracks test shows you how trackers see your browser, and how uniquely configured—and thus identifiable—it is.
Panopticlick was about letting users know that browser fingerprinting was possible; Cover Your Tracks is about giving users the tools to fight back against the trackers, and improve the web ecosystem to provide privacy for everyone. A screen capture of the front page of coveryourtracks.eff.org.
Data like screen size and color depth, time zones, cookies and the operating system running on your machine provide bits of identifying information. By using Panopticlick, you can see your browser fingerprint and understand how your information is transmitted to websites, uniquely identifying your digital device.
There's a download in this article on corephp.com that includes javascript to fingerprint browsers and convert the results to an MD5 hash sum - probably not as heavyweight as panopticlick but it is pretty good.
