How can I fetch a stock's price from the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX): www.asx.com.au/
Actually our team is working on a corporate site which would be listed soon at Australian Stock Exchange. I need to display details about the stock (including the price) on the home page. How can I do this?
Do stock exchanges provide data feeds? If so, how do I access these feeds?
Direct access to the ASX's information service, MarketSource, provides the fastest connectivity to price data. Information is fed directly into MarketSource from the ASX and the ASX 24 matching engines.
Sometimes these prices are different. During a regular trading day, the balance between supply and demand fluctuates as the attractiveness of the stock's price increases and decreases. These fluctuations are why closing and opening prices are not always identical.
There are many other places to find historical stock quotes, to be sure. There are thousands of websites and mobile apps that will provide both real-time and historical quotes as well as financial metrics across all categories. Sites like Bloomberg and Marketwatch are among the most popular, as well as Yahoo! Finance.
Australian Stock ExchangeUse Factiva to locate share prices for "Companies/Markets" section. You can access daily prices up to the past 2 years and weekly or monthly prices up to the past 5 years.
ASX must have an API. But there seem to be some options such as RSS Feeds. Live feeds are not free, free feeds are 20minutes delayed.
