The default left sidebar for a MediaWiki powered sidebar contains such links as "Random Page" and "Current Events." I want to hide these.
Is there a way to do this aside from using CSS (display:none;
)?
Correspondingly, is there a way to add pages to this list?
Would this require editing any PhP files?
Thank you.
First of all, you need to navigate to 'MediaWiki:Sidebar' – by editing the address bar. For example, the http://sitename.com/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Sidebar. Once done, you will be taken to Sidebar page – click 'Edit'.
On every page there is a search box. Enter keywords and phrases and press Enter or Return or click the magnifying glass icon (or Search or Go button when using other skins). If a page has the same title as what you entered, you jump straight to that page.
No coding needed, just edit the page "MediaWiki:Sidebar" in your wiki. Admin rights required, obviously.
The MediaWiki manual may have the information you're looking for. (That was the top hit for "mediawiki customize sidebar" on a search engine.)
