I have googled until blue in the fingers. I have a Postscript font that I need to use on a website. I need to convert it to .ttf or .otf format. None of the free conversion tools allow .pfm, .afm, or .inf extensions as inputs.
I have tried to install Font Forge with no success. Macports is awful and there are no longer Binaries being published. Does anyone have another solution?
You may convert a PostScript font to an OpenType font and find that the Adobe application still won't except it, or that it drastically changes the layout of your project. You may also find that your conversion software doesn't copy vital information about the font exactly as you need it, such as the font menu name.
If you find yourself in that situation with some of your mission-critical fonts, there are a few different programs you can use to convert old Type 1 fonts to OpenType. My favorite option is TransType by FontLab Ltd, Inc., the purveyors of, FontLab, Fontographer, and other high-quality font-related software.
TrueType is an outline font standard developed by Apple in the late 1980s as a competitor to Adobe's Type 1 fonts used in PostScript. It has become the most common format for fonts on the classic Mac OS, macOS, and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
For Mac and Windows you can use TransType.
Mac only solution is FontXChange.
FontForge seems to be a gross looking, but functional open source tool if you have more time than money.
