While the EPS file as a vector file is more flexible than an AI file, a PDF is even more adaptable, being able to be opened by any software capable of reading PDF documents. These can be shared, viewed and printed with their formats locked as they were designed.
Click “File,” “Save As” and select “Photoshop EPS.” Select the desired export options, such as creating a preview image, changing the file encoding or modifying color options. Click “OK” to export.

EPS - Encapsulated PostScript EPS can be used for images produced by vector-drawing applications such as Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw. However, EPS tends to be a bulky file format, compared with PDF which is a more modern and compact functional equivalent of EPS, so submission of figures in PDF format is encouraged.
I have always used pgfplot
of latex
to produce figures(.pdf format). Now, the journal in which I want to publish wants my figures to be in eps format.
I tried converting pdf to eps using pdftops -eps fig.pdf fig.eps
. But the resulting eps file is of poor quality.
Original figure (in .pdf format)
Converted figure (in .eps format)
What is the right procedure to create eps file that is the same quality as my input pdf file?
EDIT
As per PooyaRaki recommendations: Inkscape option output(.eps)
Ghostscript option(.eps format)
Acrobat reader option output (.ps format)
Acrobat reader seems to work the best among the three.
