So I tried starting a new project from scratch with the new version 3 of Android Studio. Everything works until it tries to build the project. Then I get this error message:
Error:Unable to find method 'org.gradle.tooling.model.gradle.GradleBuild.getIncludedBuilds()Lorg/gradle/tooling/model/DomainObjectSet;'.
Possible causes for this unexpected error include:<ul><li>Gradle's dependency cache may be corrupt (this sometimes occurs after a network connection timeout.)
<a href="syncProject">Re-download dependencies and sync project (requires network)</a></li><li>The state of a Gradle build process (daemon) may be corrupt. Stopping all Gradle daemons may solve this problem.
<a href="stopGradleDaemons">Stop Gradle build processes (requires restart)</a></li><li>Your project may be using a third-party plugin which is not compatible with the other plugins in the project or the version of Gradle requested by the project.</li></ul>In the case of corrupt Gradle processes, you can also try closing the IDE and then killing all Java processes.
Click on either solution does not keep it from failing again. I even emptied my gradle home folder to no avail. Any ideas why this is failing on a totally new project with nothing but the basic template?
If gradle --version works, but all of your builds fail with the same error, it is possible there is a problem with one of your Gradle build configuration scripts. You can verify the problem is with Gradle scripts by running gradle help which executes configuration scripts, but no Gradle tasks.
For this, you have to connect your PC to the internet and you have to open your Android studio. After opening your project click on the Sync Project with Gradle files option. This will automatically download the new Gradle files and will fix the issue which is caused by the Gradle files.
This happens if you install Android Studio 3 (resp. 3.0.1) into the same folder of an older version.
Just rename (or remove) the old folder and then unzip and install again.
